Binh Hung Island

As a small island in Cam Binh commune, Cam Ranh city (Khanh Hoa), Binh Hung is considered an unpolished “jewel” among marine tourist destinations in Vietnam. Nestled at the foot of the pass of the sea route. Binh Tien and Vinh Hy, this place is famous for its fine white sand beaches and clear blue water. Binh Hung is also known as Hon Ty or Hon Chut. It has not been exploited for tourism much so it still retains many wild and charming features.

The beach here is not as long and wide as Mui Ne or Nha Trang, but is always clear and blue and you can see the bottom. The sea is not deep, gentle, just wade out a few dozen meters, chest-high water to see coral reefs right under your feet. In particular, on the beaches are rocks of many shapes, styles and vivid colors. People on the island live mainly by fishing, especially lobster farming. The houses are located close together facing the sea. What is most impressive is that the roads around the island are very clean.

Tourists can go to Binh Hung Island all year round, however, they should avoid months with many storms (September and October) to have the opportunity to fully enjoy their trip. The most ideal time to come to Binh Hung is in the summer months, when the sea is calm, you will enjoy the most “captivating” sea scenery.

From Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, you can travel by plane, bus, or train to Cam Ranh. From Cam Ranh City, follow National Highway 1A towards Ninh Thuan, then follow the new route Binh Lap – Binh Tien about 15 km to reach Bai Kinh – Binh Hung. If departing from Phan Rang City, you follow Highway 702 toward Vinh Hy Bay for about 57 km. At Vinh Hy intersection, turn left and follow the new road for another 13 km to reach Bai Kinh.

From here, visitors take a boat to the island, which takes about 10 minutes and costs 10,000 VND/trip/person. If guests want to ride a motorbike around the island, the price to bring the motorbike over is 10,000 VND. The tram on the island serves only one route from the wharf to the lighthouse for 20,000 VND/person/trip.

From Binh Ba, visitors can rent a boat to Binh Hung island, which takes about 60 minutes and vice versa. However, if you travel in a group, you should go on weekdays, while single travelers traveling on weekends or holidays will save more on boat rental costs. Boats going back and forth to Binh Hung Island run all day, stopping around 6:00 p.m.

Binh Hung Island is very small, it only takes about half a day for you to explore everything around here. If you want to dive to see coral or swim, you can contact and book a tour right at the households living on the island. The cost of renting a boat is from 1 to 1.5 million VND, you can go separately or join a tour to save more.

You can rent a boat to visit the fishermen’s seafood rafts and enjoy food right there. In particular, these boats have a clear glass bottom, so you can move while enjoying the beauty of the coral. If you want to visit the island by motorbike, you should rent it right away at motels or motels on the island for about 120,000 to 150,000 VND/day. Because Binh Hung Island has a quite small area, visitors should also choose to walk to slowly explore the island. At the raft house, the raft house owners now open additional accommodation services, guests can sleep in hammocks or mattresses at a fairly reasonable price, 50,000 VND/night/person. This form is suitable for those who want to experience the feeling of floating on the sea to listen to the sound of waves or the bustling sound of fishermen rowing boats and baskets every morning.

Coming to Binh Hung island, you should not miss interesting destinations such as Binh Tien Beach, Kinh Beach, Hon Chut Lighthouse… Located in Binh Tien village, this beach is planned by the local government to become a resort. So the people were moved to the mountainside. However, the project has not built any additional construction items for many years, so it is still quite pristine. If you go by car or motorbike in the direction of Cam Ranh – Binh Hung, you should stop at the stop on the way and take a photo with this beautiful beach. There is a small note that the Project Management Board does not allow visitors to enter by road, they can only visit by water if they wish.

Follow the small road up Hon Bu mountain, soon you will be next to Hon Chut lighthouse, which is a “tree” lighthouse present in front of Cam Ranh Bay that is over 100 years old. Standing on the lighthouse, you can observe the hustle and bustle of cargo ships on Cam Ranh port to the west and look out to the vast sea to the east where small fishing boats are dotted. .

If you have time, you should visit Hang Tau. The reason it is called Hang Tau is because boats often come here to avoid storms. There are also many swiftlets nesting here, so it is also called Yen Island. The water is so clear that from a height of 15 meters you can still see the bottom.
